Organic oat kernels, also known as oat groats, can be rolled to produce rolled oats. They are whole and minimally processed oats, thus retaining a higher nutritional value. They are a good of dietary fibre and a great low GI source of carbohydrate so they keep you fuller for longer. They help in reducing LDL or ‘bad cholesterol’ and may aid in lowering blood pressure. They contain more than 20 unique polyphenols called avenanthramides, which have strong anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-itching activity.
How to Use
Oat groats need to be soaked and need longer cooking time than rolled oats. They can be eaten as a side dish like pilaf, rolled into oats for porridge or using in bread making.
